Nocona

Nocona has been prospering since 1887. It’s an ideal place to spend a day, a weekend or as long as you choose. Nocona, named for the wise and valiant Comanche warrior, Chief Peta Nocona, has a long history of American Indian civilizations including Spanish Fort along the Red River. As the longhorn cattle were herded along the Chisholm Trail, they passed through Nocona for crossing into Oklahoma. Supplying the cowboys with necessary goods like boots, belts, and other leather goods spawned Nocona’;s reputation as the “leather goods center of the southwest.” The leather heritage remains with the Montague Boot Company and Nocona Athletic Goods. Nocona Athletic Goods is the last U.S. manufacturer of professional leather baseball gloves. Come visit and enjoy the atmosphere known as the “Best of Small Town America”.
